We designate the entry-level market as video cards that have a street price of under $100. These cards are targeted at value-system buyers, and we usually don't find the high-performance hardware at this price range. Of course, that doesn't mean that gaming performance or features have to suffer, and only having a C-Note in your pocket is no reason to start looking in the bargain bins.
Each month we usually welcome a new entrant or two into the entry-level video card list, but for the second month in a row, we failed to have a new card drop below the $100 level. Last time we said it was rare, but for two consecutive months, it's totally unprecedented, especially since there was a pile of cards in the $104-$106 level, just as we have again in May. April's prospective entry-level cards remained at the same price, increased slightly, or totally disappeared from vendor lists, making it a very uneventful month at the entry-level.
