May Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff May 26, 2006If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon X800 and GeForce 6800 cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X1900 XTX 512MB and GeForce 7900 GT and GTX 256MB/512MB cards, some of which can push $500. The high-end section of the video card market is usually more of a "wild west" type of environment, where the pricing shoot-outs are always taking place between ATI and NVIDIA video cards, and new hotrod cards are always joining the party. The new card introductions have certainly slowed down, but the price wars are going on at a steady clip. This area is where all the large price drops are taking place, as both ATI and NVIDIA last-generation products are trying to find their niche against the onslaught of GeForce 7 Series and ATI X1X00-based cards.
