June Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff June 27, 2006If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon X800 and GeForce 6800 cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X1900 XTX 512MB and GeForce 7900 GT and GTX 256MB/512MB cards, some of which can push $500. The high-end section of the video card market is usually more of a "wild west" type of environment, where the pricing shoot-outs are always taking place between ATI and NVIDIA video cards, and new hotrod cards are always joining the party. We were able to welcome in some new high-end model for June, including several of the powerful GeForce 7950 GX2 1GB video cards. Pricing activity was also in high gear, and we see price drops at every level, especially with the GeForce 7900 and Radeon X1900-based models. We did lose a few models as well, and many of the dual-card SLI implementations have fallen by the wayside, now that NVIDIA offers the streamlined GeForce 7950 GX2.
