We designate the entry-level market as video cards that have a street price of under $100. These cards are targeted at value-system buyers, and we usually don't find the high-performance hardware at this price range. Of course, that doesn't mean that gaming performance or features have to suffer, and only having a C-Note in your pocket is no reason to start looking in the bargain bins.
Each month we usually welcome a new entrant or two into the entry-level video card list, but lately, this type of activity has been very limited. But in June, we noticed a congregation of mainstream cards in the $100-$120 range, that were just itching to get in, and this month the deluge has finally arrived. There are five new entry-level cards for July, all from ATI, and these include different models from the X1300, X700 and X800 family. The Radeon X800 GT 256MB and GTO 256MB cards are very intriguing performance options, and we expect a run on these cards due to their new sub-$100 price tags. The Radeon X800 GTO 256MB PCI Express card is obviously our top entry-level choice, and its performance will be noticeably higher than the entry-level competition.
