September Video Card Price Guide - Page 3By SharkyExtreme.com Staff September 27, 2006We designate the entry-level market as video cards that have a street price of under $100. These cards are targeted at value-system buyers, and we usually don't find the high-performance hardware at this price range. Of course, that doesn't mean that gaming performance or features have to suffer, and only having a C-Note in your pocket is no reason to start looking in the bargain bins. Each month we usually welcome a new entrant or two into the entry-level video card list, but this activity can really change from month to month. August wasn't a very active period, as only two new cards made their debut. September ups that to three, but only one of those (the Radeon X1300 512MB) was due to a price drop from the mainstream chart, and the other two cards - the GeForce 7300 GT 256MB and Radeon X700 256MB - were brand new guide entrants. The Gigabyte DUAL GeForce 6600 still represents a very interesting option, as it includes two GeForce 6600 GPUs on a single, low-cost SLI card. In terms of more basic choices, the Radeon X800 GTO 256MB PCI Express card remains our top entry-level choice, and at least until the GeForce 7600 GS drops a bit more in price, it's the consensus choice.
