We designate the entry-level market as video cards that have a street price of under $100. These cards are targeted at value-system buyers, and we usually don't find the high-performance hardware at this price range. Of course, that doesn't mean that gaming performance or features have to suffer, and only having a C-Note in your pocket is no reason to start looking in the bargain bins.
Each guide we usually welcome a new entrant or two into the entry-level video card list, but this activity can really change from month to month. August and September were pretty sedate, and we continue that trend again this month. We have two new entry-level cards dropping down from the mainstream market, as the GeForce 6600GT 128MB shed $7 to $99 and the GeForce 7600 GS 256MB dropped $12 to $95. The Radeon X700SE 256MB also made its chart debut in October, but otherwise, it was business as usual in the sub-$100 graphics market. In terms of the best video card choices, the newly-welcomed GeForce 6600GT 128MB and GeForce 7600 GS 256MB really stand out on the NVIDIA side, while the Radeon X800 GTO 256MB will give them both a good run for the money.
