November 2006 Video Card Price Guide - Page 3By SharkyExtreme.com Staff November 28, 2006We designate the entry-level graphics market as any video card that has a street price of under $100. These cards are targeted at value-system buyers, and we usually don't find the high-performance hardware at this price range. Of course, that doesn't mean that gaming performance or features have to suffer, and only having a C-Note in your pocket is no reason to start looking in the bargain bins. Each guide we usually welcome a new entrant or two into the entry-level video card list, but this activity can really change from month to month. The last three months were quite sedate in this respect, and November continues this trend with only a single mainstream card dropping below the $100 level. The Radeon X700 Pro 256MB AGP card is the new member, and its entry really has little impact on the mass market, especially as PCI Express is the de facto standard in this area. In terms of the top video card choices, the GeForce 6600GT 128MB and GeForce 7600 GS 256MB are serious performance options on the NVIDIA side, while the Radeon X1600 Pro 256MB is the top value buy for entry-level ATI buyers.
