December Video Card Price Guide - Page 3By SharkyExtreme.com Staff December 31, 2006We designate the entry-level graphics market as any video card that has a street price of under $100. These cards are targeted at value-system buyers, and we usually don't find the high-performance hardware at this price range. Of course, that doesn't mean that gaming performance or features have to suffer, and only having a C-Note in your pocket is no reason to start looking in the bargain bins or scouring Ebay for refurbs. Each guide we usually welcome a new entrant or two into the entry-level video card list, but this activity can really change from month to month. The last 3-4 months were quite consistent, and December continues this trend with only a single mainstream card dropping below the $100 level. This month we see the Radeon X800 GTO 256MB become a new member of the entry-level club, giving ATI another very attractive competitor at this price level. It is so good in fact, that it takes over from the Radeon X1600 Pro 256MB as our top ATI performance pick in this area, while the GeForce 7600 GS 256MB gets the nod on the NVIDIA side.
