January 2007 Video Card Price Guide - Page 3By SharkyExtreme.com Staff January 30, 2007We designate the entry-level graphics market as any video card that has a street price of under $100. These cards are targeted at value-system buyers, and we usually don't find the high-performance hardware at this price range. Of course, that doesn't mean that gaming performance or features have to suffer, and only having a C-Note in your pocket is no reason to start looking in the bargain bins or scouring Ebay for refurbs. Each guide we usually welcome a new entrant or two into the entry-level video card list, but the level of activity can really change from month to month. This was quite consistent through the end of 2006, and to start 2007, we have two video cards that fell below the $100 level: the Radeon X700 Pro 256MB AGP and Radeon X1650 Pro 256MB PCIe. We also welcomed the GeForce 7100 GS 128MB and 256MB cards to the value club, but these are new listings, rather than price drops. The Radeon X800 GTO 256MB we proclaimed as the value leader last month has virtually disappeared from retail shelves, and we're now going with more the conventional choices of a Radeon X1650 Pro 256MB for ATI buyers, and the GeForce 7600 GS 256MB for NVIDIA fans.
