May Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff May 31, 2007If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon X800/X850 and GeForce 7600/7900-based cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon X1900/X1950 XTX 512MB and GeForce GTX 512MB and GeForce 7950 GX2 1GB cards, some of which can have price tags of $500 or more. The high-end section of the video card market is usually more of a "wild west" type of environment, where the pricing shoot-outs are always taking place between AMD and NVIDIA video cards, and new hotrod cards are continually joining the party. Speaking of hotrods, we have a pair for you as the much anticipated Radeon HD 2900 XT 512MB made an appearance, while NVIDIA cranked up performance even higher with the GeForce 8800 Ultra 768MB. ATI now has a viable DirectX 10 option with the Radeon HD 2900 XT 512MB, but we still feel that the DirectX 10-compliant GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB and 640MB cards provide the best combination of performance and feature set for the enthusiast-level buyers.
