September Video Card Price Guide - Page 3By SharkyExtreme.com Staff September 28, 2007We designate the entry-level graphics market as any video card that has a street price of under $100. These cards are targeted at value-system buyers, and we usually don't find the high-performance hardware at this price range. Of course, that doesn't mean that gaming performance or features have to suffer, and only having a C-Note in your pocket is no reason to start looking in the bargain bins or scouring Ebay for refurbs. The sheer number of entry-level graphics cards continues to grow, and is now by far the largest market segment. Usually we welcome a few members to the sub-$100 club every month, but September was a real anomaly, and not a single video card dropped below the $100 barrier. This was quite strange, but it seems that after the introduction of the Radeon HD 2600-based cards, the price structure has settled down considerably. It's still a great time to be shopping for a new entry-level card, and we really like the Radeon X800 Pro 256MB, Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256MB, GeForce 7600 GT 256MB, and GeForce 8500 GT 256MB cards at this price range.
