ATI and NVIDIA Video Cards: Price Changes

The following chart takes all of the tracked AMD and NVIDIA cards, and incorporates it into one monster price list, that is then sorted by the monthly price change. This gives us a slightly different view than in previous AMD and NVIDIA lists, as it identifies the month's biggest movers and shakers, and can really help identify the areas to take advantage of. When used with the other price charts, this list can add another dimension to the monthly video card prices, but keep in mind that the largest cuts may not translate into the best overall deal.

The overall price change list confirms our findings in the individual video card charts and commentary. The overall results show a very slight advantage for ATI-based cards, with these taking down six of the top ten price decreases, and six out of the top eight. ATI also posted the highest percentage drop, as the Radeon X1950 Pro 256MB shaved off over a third of its original price. Even so, NVIDIA-based cards weren't that far back, and included the largest price drop of all - a $60 cut to the GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB. The price ranges also showed nice diversity, and two entry-level cards snuck onto the list, as well as a pair of mainstream models and six high-end models.
