May Video Card Price Guide - Page 5By SharkyExtreme.com Staff May 30, 2008If the entry-level and mainstream video cards cover us to the $200 price mark, then the high-end market takes us home. Here there is really no price limit, and as long as it's a desktop 3D gaming card, then we'll do our best to fit it in. This segment really starts off with the Radeon X1900/X1950 and GeForce 7900/7950-based cards, before finishing with the top-end Radeon HD 2900 XT 512MB/1GB, Radeon HD 3870 X2 1GB, and GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB and GTX/Ultra 768MB cards, some of which can have price tags of $400-$600 or more. The high-end video card chart is usually the most active of the bunch, where pricing shoot-outs are always taking place between ATI and NVIDIA video cards, and new hotrod cards are continually joining the party. There were definitely some price drops in this chart, including two that reached triple digits, and we even had a trio of new card introductions - the Radeon HD 3870 1GB, Radeon HD 2600XT X2 1GB and GeForce 8800 GTS 1GB all debuted in the May listings. The dual-GPU Radeon HD 3870 X2 1GB is still the best option for ATI performance fans, while NVIDIA enthusiasts will get a lot of value from the GeForce 9800 GTX 512MB, or the dual-GPU GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB.
