January Video Card Price Guide - Page 4By SharkyExtreme.com Staff January 31, 2009Our definition of mainstream video cards encompasses the $100-$199 price range, and this is where gamers will get the most bang for the buck. You will find the latest mainstream-performance video cards here, like many of the Radeon HD 3000 and 4000 series cards, as well as the same range from the GeForce 8 and 9 series. Of course, there is always the potential of some performance video cards dropping out of the high-end chart and joining the mainstream party, which is definitely good news for buyers. The mainstream video card list is where we usually see a few new entries mixed in with some high-end cards falling below the $200 mark and entering this chart. Three cards dropped down from the high-end sector in January, with the All-in-Wonder HD 3650 512MB, Radeon HD 4870 512MB and GeForce 9800 GTX+ 1GB video cards shedding enough dollars to qualify. The last two are serious performance contenders, with the GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB and now 1GB models in tough against the Radeon HD 4850 512MB, but all mainstream cards must bow to the new Radeon HD 4870 512MB king.
