February Video Card Price Guide - Page 4By SharkyExtreme.com Staff March 2, 2009Our definition of mainstream video cards encompasses the $100-$199 price range, and this is where gamers will get the most bang for the buck. You will find the latest mainstream-performance video cards here, like many of the Radeon HD 3000 and 4000 series cards, as well as the same range from the GeForce 8 and 9 series. Of course, there is always the potential of some performance video cards dropping out of the high-end chart and joining the mainstream party, which is definitely good news for buyers. The mainstream video card list is where we usually see a few new entries mixed in with some high-end cards falling below the $200 mark. February was a relatively sedate month for the mainstream cards, and no models dropped below $200 and the only "new" entry was a supply of old school All-in-Wonder X1800 XL 256MB cards that found their way to market. We're also not looking at any radical price changes, and the Radeon HD 4870 512MB and GeForce 9800 GTX+ 1GB video cards remain performance contenders, as are the GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB/1GB and Radeon HD 4850 512MB models. But at this price range, all these cards must bow to the Radeon HD 4870 512MB mainstream king.
