Here's the test rig we used:

  • Intel P2-450 CPU
  • Abit BH6 440BX Mainboard
  • Goldstar 128MB PC-100 SDRAM (Chip Part# GM72V66841CT-7J)
  • Matrox Millenium G200 16MB AGP
  • Metabyte Wicked3D 12MB PCI
  • Quantum3D X-24 PCI V2 SLI Card
  • Adaptec 2490UW Ultra-Wide SCSI Controller
  • IBM Ultrastar 9 UW-SCSI HD
  • Diamond Monster Sound MX200 3D PCI Sound Card
  • Toshiba SD-M1202 DVD-ROM
  • Win95 OSR 2.1

Test Conditions and Specifications: All tests were run a total of three times with the results averaged to determine final score. Both Voodoo2 cards were set to a clock speed of 100MHz, and VSYNC was disabled.

P2-450 Benchmarks

800 x 600 x 16bit (3D) - 1024 x 768 x 16bit (3D)

As the results show, there's nothing to get excited about regarding the new drivers right now. But shortly into the New Year, several titles will be begin to filter out that do showcase the multi-texturing abilities of both the Riva TNT and Voodoo2-equipped cards in DX6.

For now, enjoy the already strong multi-texturing performance that your Voodoo2 or TNT card has (in all upcoming Quake2 and Unreal-based games like SiN and Half-Life where thanks to OpenGL, multi-texturing is enabled), and try not to believe everything you read from video card manufacturers.....That's why we're here.
