At this time, the Voodoo3 3000 will stack up extremely well against the rest of the competition in terms of their 'raw' 16-bit performance. The UltraTNT2's are NOT yet available (look for a May release) and we've yet to test the PowerVR Series 2 product (also some way off from its June release date), therefor this leaves the Voodoo3 3000 in pole position when it comes to fast 16-bit performance. With the improved set of drivers, 3dfx has added roughly 5-7% gains over their last driver set. Quake 2 timedemo1.dm2 scores are certainly impressive and even the slower Crusher scores have been improved (although it's still slower here than the Ultra TNT2 card we previewed). It's also good to see that 3dfx has FINALLY fixed their inherent gamma problem, which has plagued them for a couple of years now. When you run Quake 2, for a change, you'll actually be able to see where you're going on the default setting and without 'tweaking' the gamma properties.

You'll also notice that the Voodoo3 3000 is slightly faster than the 2000, which we reviewed last month. This is of course due to the higher graphics clock and memory speed (synchronized at 166MHz) which also provides a higher fill rate of 333 MegaTextels/second.
