The V7700 Deluxe comes with a full copy of Soldier of Fortune, a great first person shooter if you're into ultra-graphic violence. It comes with DVD playback software and 3Deep. It has ASUS SmartDoctor, which monitors your card's temperature, and ASUS VideoSecurity, which can act as a security camera. And last but not least, it comes with Ulead Video Studio, which provides basic video editing for novice users.
At a price as low as $275, the V7700 Deluxe costs about $50 more than the least expensive GeForce2 GTS cards. For $50, you can buy a TV-tuner card but you will have to spend closer to $100 to get the same quality as the V7700 Deluxe. The ATI All-in-Wonder and Matrox G400-TV cost slightly less yet have superior video. The V7700 Deluxe provides speed and basic video at a good value, but if you need more video quality, then it is not a good deal at any price.
If you find your heart longing for the V7700, but you're can't justify the Benjamin's for the extra bells and whistles, be sure to check out our review of the Asus V7700 Pure here. Pricewatch reports that you can obtain a retail card for $235 and up, $40 less than it's older brother.
If 3D game performance is your thing but you also want to use your computer to do some basic, low-quality video work, the V7700 Deluxe is probably the card for you. If video is more important to you, look at the ATI All-in-Wonder or Matrox G400-TV instead.
