PowerColor is a small design and manufacturing company located in Taipei. While their bread and butter is low-cost video cards, they also design and build motherboards. With 43 employees (14 are engineers), PowerColor designs products in-house and has achieved ISO-9001 certification. We sat down with PowerColor representatives and discussed their current and future products.
PowerColor builds a motherboard designed specifically with value-conscious gamers in mind. Their INsider code:T2 P651A uses the new Aladdin chipset that integrates a TNT2. In addition to having a faster graphics core than Intel's i810 series, the chipset is hooked up to 16MB of dedicated SDRAM mounted on the motherboard. By not using a shared memory architecture, the T2 has the potential to give its TNT2 far more memory bandwidth and therefore far more performance. At an estimated street price of $85, the INsider code:T2 could provide an awesome gaming value.
