  • Alongside 3dfx's VSA-100 announcements at COMDEX '99, Quantum3D announced their VSA-100 based AAlchemy systems, sporting eight or more VSA-100 chips to bring awesome fill-rates to the simulation market. One of the key features of multi-chip VSA-100 systems, such as the Quantum3D's AAlchemy 8xxx series or 3dfx's Voodoo5-6000, is Full-Scene, Sub-Pixel Anti-Aliasing (FSSPAA). FSSPAA is a feature Quantum3D has provided in their high-end simulation systems for quite a while, and 3dfx has leveraged Quantum3D's knowledge and experience to implement FSSPAA for the consumer in Voodoo5. 3dfx and Quantum3D have strong ties binding them together and, while they follow very different paths, their core technologies are the same.
