  • There is no room in this article for cards that are "well priced and good value". If you're a gamer on a budget and/or looking for some value, hang tight till we do another shootout that includes the 32MB Geforce2 MX, the Voodoo4 and the 32MB Radeon Cards. In the meantime, just read on and dream…

What we're trying to give you folks is the benefit of our experience with all of these cards, which we consider to be the best of the best so far, and let you know our own personal favorites. For the record, we'd be happy with each and every single one of these video cards in our home PCs. And just like you'd be really really mad at seeing some old poop in a Marinello driving on the freeway in the slow lane at 55mph, we'd be really mad if our Granddads were using MS Office with any of these video cards. These cards are meant for gamers with a passion. Driving is a passion and so is gaming…

    ASUS AGP-V7700 Deluxe 64MB
    ATI Radeon 64MB
    ELSA GLADIAC Ultra 64MB
Hercules 3D Prophet II GTS 64MB
Hercules 3D Prophet II GTS Pro 64MB
Hercules 3D Prophet II Ultra 64MB

To kick things off, we'll start with an introduction to the various technologies from NVIDIA and ATI (and even 3dfx, though our last glimpse of the Voodoo5 6000 was at ECTS) and then move on to taking a close look at the criteria for this round up: Image Quality, FSAA, DVD Performance/Quality, Ease of Use Installation, Price/Value and (of course!)Performance. Then, we'll move on to a more in-depth look at each card (in alphabetical order) and then we will present a detailed breakdown of how we chose our winner along with a part on the AWOL cards that we would have liked to see here. So once again, we invite you to sit down with a can of your favorite caffeine-rich drink and take the tour with us.
