Will you continue to support the 2500? What about previous products such as the Pure3D 2? And what can you talk about in regards to the recent driver delays?
YES, YES, YES!!! Our policy has always been and will always be to support our products and customers with new driver updates as long as the chip vendor is supplying updates. The Pure3D II driver update issue was very frustrating for us. We are happy to say that we are getting much better support from 3Dfx and will have the updates finished very soon. DX6 is scheduled, barring any unforeseen problems, to go up on our web site by end of business this Wednesday. GLIDE 3 is scheduled for next week. This is still a soft date.
What's next for Canopus?
DV, DV, DV. The other side of Canopus is Video Editing. And, like the 3D graphics market, we have [the best class of] products in this area. This market is growing at a tremendous rate and Canopus is positioned to be a clear leader here. The technology is very challenging for our engineers and the customers are just as demanding as our hard core gaming customers. In fact, we are taking some of our 3D knowledge and applying it to this market in unique ways.
The other area we are working on is digital audio. We have an interesting USB/optical digital audio port shipping in Japan now. It includes our own MP3 software encoder and we think it has a lot of potential outside Japan as well.
While we are not happy about taking a break from graphics, we are fortunate that we can utilize our technology in a profitable area. The bright side of this is that we are not going away. We will be here to support our current products and we will continue to provide innovative products based on emerging technologies.
As always, Sharky Extreme will continue to bring you more updates as they become available.
