Boy have we gotten an absolute ton of email about coverage on this part. With literally thousands of online users relying on their sharp ATi All-In-Wonder-Pro cards for everyday usage, we were deluged with requests to cover the newest member to ATi's family, the Rage 128GL chip.

Sadly, the Rage 128GL wasn't everything we had hoped it would be, but will still wind up being a good all around part when compared to older chips like the TNT or the Voodoo2. Those looking for something to dramatically beat a TNT or Voodoo2 in the gaming arena will have to look elsewhere, as the Rage 128GL chip simply matches their raw performance in D3D and OpenGL apps.

The good news however is the fact that ATi will be using the core of the Rage 128GL for a bunch of new or revised products, including the sweet All-In-Wonder-Pro. The thought of having the strength of the Rage 128GL powering a card that offers a virtual PC/TV as well as full Video In/Out capturing and manipulation, plus DVD hardware acceleration thrown in for good measure probably makes ATi's All-In-Wonder-Pro a serious contender for those seeking well rounded supremacy.

A mobile version of the Rage 128GL is expected, although a date for that part hasn't been given. Like the Savage3D 2, the mobile Rage128GL would make an excellent partner for those seeking powerful entertainment features in their notebook selection.

We don't have a date for you on the specific All-In-Wonder-Pro edition of the Rage 128GL, but we do know that ATi's Rage 128GL powered gaming cards (Magnum and Fury) are shipping as I write this. Look for them on store shelves this week, and expect a Sharky Extreme review/benchmark extravaganza soon.
