AMD Athlon XP 2000+ Review - Page 3

By Vince Freeman January 8, 2002

Performance

In this section of the review, we will try and give the best overall view of the Athlon XP 2000+'s performance. And what better way to do this than assembling two of the hottest platforms available: the NVIDIA nForce and the VIA KT266A. These were matched up with the Athlon XP 2000+ in full benchmark testing, as well as slapping in the Athlon XP 1900+ for comparison. The Intel competition is also ready, able and willing, and scores for the Pentium 4-2.2, 2.0A and 2.20 GHz are also featured using both the i850/RDRAM and i845D/DDR platform bases.

After much consideration, we have also moved the test platforms to Windows XP Pro. Although benchmarking is a bit more challenging using XP, it is the operating system included with most new systems and it only makes sense to give buyers the best overall performance picture.
