Business Winstone 2001
Business Winstone 2001 is an application-based PC benchmark suite from ZD Labs that uses business programs like MS Office 2000, FrontPage 2000, Lotus Notes, and Netscape to test a system's performance. This suite of programs are run from a batch script that attempts to accurately emulate a business system load, then supplies a final performance rating.
The AMD Athlon XP has held the Business Winstone crown for awhile now, but now the Pentium 4-2.2 GHz provides some much-needed competition. While the two processors essentially tie for the lead, this is as much a win for Intel as a tie for AMD. Both Athlon DDR platforms turn in excellent scores, while the Pentium 4 i845D falls back a bit, as do the scores on the Pentium 4-2.0A.
Content Creation Winstone 2002
To mark the transition to Windows XP Pro, we have updated our benchmark suite to include the new Content Creation Winstone 2002. This is another excellent benchmark from ZD, and is one of the first to have Windows XP as the intended platform. As such, it makes a great match for our high-end testing and a valuable tool when determining system performance levels using cutting-edge hardware and software.
The Athlon XP 2000+ finds itself on the receiving end of it with Content Creation Winstone 2002, as the Pentium 4-2.2 GHz steams to victory. Once again, this is with the i850 platform, and moving to the i845D or Pentium 2.0A yields lower marks.
