    AMD Duron 1.3GHz Review
    By Vince Freeman :  January 22, 2002

    Final Comments

The Duron 1.2 GHz was really the first Duron processor that we'd recommend both as a value option and a high performance CPU. The Duron 1.3 GHz is an even better bet for performance gamers, and may help the Duron line move past the Athlon to the head of the value class. These higher speed Duron models are where the Morgan design enhancements and increased core speed really match up almost perfectly, and the low prices don't hurt either. The Duron 1.3 GHz represents an excellent buy for gamers on a budget who not only need high performance but a forward-looking feature set.

    Highs:

    • Cooler than Athlon
    • A 1.3 GHz Entry-Level Processor!
    • Excellent Match for Win XP Value Systems
    Lows:
    • Initial prices are still high
    • Not totally free of Athlon shadow
    • 266 MHz models would be welcome
