ASUS wowed us with their P4T i850 Motherboard, which we have been testing extensively in our labs without a hint of instability. Five PCI slots and an AGP Pro slot ensure future expansions will be flawless. Using the P4T, we have been able to achieve a phenomenal 600MHz front side bus speed with near-perfect stability with our overclocked Pentium 4 1.5GHz. The RDRAM multiplier is adjustable for those instances where memory serves as the overclocking bottleneck.

Supposedly, ASUS has stopped manufacturing the A7M266 due to the high cost and limited availability of the AMD 761 chipset. A few online vendors are still sticking the board, however, and as long as it is available, the A7M266 remains our favorite. Of the Athlon boards to make their way through the lab supporting DDR memory, the A7M266 has displayed the most impressive reliability. Coupled with the solid performance of the 761 chipset, the A7M266 is a great choice.
