  • bhirsch asks: What DirectX8 features will NV20 Support? What Directx8 features won't it support?

NVIDIA: While we can't comment on future products we can say this, NVIDIA licensed enabling 3D features to Microsoft Corp. for the DirectX 8.0 API. NVIDIA's contributions were in the areas of programmable vertex shaders, programmable pixel shaders, and rect/tri-patch support for high order surfaces. If you know anything about our product cycle you know that we have always traditionally supported all the features of both APIs – DirectX 8.0 and Open GL. For more information about our agreement with Microsoft, check out the press release at:

Duo asks: Will you continue to produce Mac-compatible cards in the near future (i.e. GF2U, NV20)? Will the Mac versions be released at the same time as their PC counterparts?

NVIDIA: All of our future products will be designed with inherent MAC support. However we cannot comment specifically on products that have not been announced.

lmpulse asks: How soon will nvidia start to incorporate 3dfx technology into their products? i.e. Hidden Surface Removal, SLI and Motion blur.

NVIDIA: Design cycles are quite lengthy and we have not yet decided how we will incorporate specific 3dfx technologies into our product line. Having said that, it would be at least a year before you would see any specific 3dfx technologies incorporated into NVIDIA's products.

email_atif asks: Does nVidia plan on using the Voodoo name in a future product, taking advantage of the fan base associated with it?

NVIDIA: NVIDIA has not decided what to do with the brand names we acquired from 3dfx.
