    MSI 645E Max2-LRU SiS 645DX Motherboard Review
    By Vince Freeman :  May 13, 2002

    Business Winstone 2001

Business Winstone 2001 is an application-based PC benchmark suite from ZD Labs that uses business programs like MS Office 2000, FrontPage 2000, Lotus Notes, and Netscape to test a system's performance. This suite of programs are run from a batch script that attempts to accurately emulate a business system load, then supplies a final performance rating.

The Business Winstone results are a bit surprising, and find the i850E well in the lead over both DDR systems. In fact, the 645E Max2-LRU doesn't really improve much on the i845D, even with a faster system bus and 333 MHz DDR. What we can glean from this is that business applications don't seem to benefit much from simply the added bandwidth of DDR333, while achieving higher scores using the i850E/RDRAM platform.

    Content Creation Winstone 2002

Content Creation Winstone 2002 is another excellent benchmark from ZD, and is one of the first to have Windows XP as the intended platform. Its demanding applications and exceptional stability makes it a great match for our high-end testing and a valuable tool when determining system performance levels using cutting-edge hardware and software.

Content Creation Winstone is a shift from the previous Business scores, as the MSI 645E Max2-LRU powers to victory, even over the i850E. The advantage over the i845D is also significant and the multimedia programs used in Content Creation Winstone 2002 show far more improvement when using the improved architecture of the 645DX.
