We have updated all of our Forsaken scores for the Voodoo3 3500, since the original preview. A NEW board and a new set of drivers from 3dfx/STB has enabled us to get accurate scores for Forsaken (all other scores remain the same).

"It is very important to get our new products in the hands of influential websites like Sharky Extreme as soon as we can. To do that we are forced to send Alpha and Beta products in for previews, and they are by nature very unstable. We sent out ten Alpha Voodoo3 3500 boards to different websites and you were the unlucky one that got a bad board," said Brian Burke, PR Manager for STB.

"The replacement boards also had problems that where unrelated to the issues with the first board. I think you have a board now that is stable and performing as promised."

Regarding the initially low Forsaken scores, STB had this to say,

"The v-sync issues you had in your Voodoo 3500 testing has been traced back to a bug in an unreleased BETA driver that had not been sent through the QA process and was sent to you by mistake," Burke added. "Fortunately for us, you where the only person we sent that driver too. Those problems where caught and corrected shortly after your tests, and have gone away with the released driver you have now."

In re-running some of the other benchmarks, we noticed that the new drivers had an increase over the old versions of about 5% in most cases. We did not adjust for this but are just presenting the new raw scores for Forsaken ONLY. To be fair we have asked Nvidia if they would like to submit new drivers in which case we will re-run all benchmarks for both the Ultra TNT2 and Voodoo3 3500. Expect an update soon.
