Here's a quick-wrap up of some of the other occurrences that didn't quite warrant a full mention:

  • Diamond has hit the news 'big-time' this month with their recent plans for a merger with S3. The word on the street is that Bill Schroeder (former Diamond CEO) will become the President of this 'joint-venture'. I think it's safe to say that Diamond won't be doing an NV10 board then. This leaves the door wide open for Guillemot to become a 'number two' partner for NVIDIA. Either that or is it going to come down to Creative buying NVIDIA?
  • Voodoo3 3500 to be released by the end of July. A new 16-bit speed king? We'd think so.
  • The Voodoo3 sales for the month of May were not in fact 54 as reported elsewhere. Apparently the 'zero' key wasn't working… (cheers Brian). The Voodoo3 2000 & 3000 actually captured the top two spots in PC Data's Best selling Video Cards chart for the month of May.
  • Intel is hoping that the launch of the Camino (i820 chipset) will still happen in September. They're projecting it'll become the 'new BX' and last as long.
  • Remember when we told you that the Celeron is here to stay? Early next year, you can expect to see Intel roll out the Celeron 533MHz.
  • We just received our first batch of mobile Pentium II 400MHz systems. Initial signs for gaming look good. We'll let you know soon.
  • Steve Jobs was really 'cool' to work for in a Utopian sort of way…
That's a wrap. Take care until next time…
