  • ABit seems to grow every year in size and their success is set to continue as we were told that they have just been chosen by Intel for the 815 (Solano) chipset reference design. In addition, they've decided to enter the graphics card market and will be releasing NVIDIA TNT2 and GeForce 256 parts by next year. We asked them about their i820 products and they do plan to launch initially with two SKUs. The Abit CX6 and the CF6. The CX6 will be a two RIMM RDRAM solution whilst the CF6 will NOT harbor any RIMMs and be an SDRAM-only solution with thee DIMMs. The CF6 will also sport a rather useful addition of ATA-66. Both boards will feature ABit's SOFT MENU II for you overclockers.

Just like ABit, Taiwanese board manufacturer MSI is set to release a GeForce 256 (somewhat sooner than ABit though) probably before the year's end. They also told us that they were on schedule to release Camino boards this year (the schedule depends upon Intel).

Official confirmation that AMD has chosen to go ahead and release the Athlon 750MHz before year-end (we'll have a review soon) so start saving your pennies.
