With more memory than Diamond Rio, we feel any MP3 enthusiast (and let's face it MP3mania has taken the NET by storm) can do no wrong with the Creative NOMAD MP3 player priced at approximately $270. A very sharp looking toy with 64MB (32MB more than the Rio) of memory can make those long journey's a little bit more enjoyable.

Finally, we feel that casual PC gamers and arcade fanatics alike would probably do no wrong by asking mum or dad for a $199.99 console that has sold over 500 000 units alone in the US since September: the Dreamcast. With a PowerVR Series 2 3D chip and a capable Hitachi SH-4?, games such as NFL2K and Soul Caliber prove that the gap in visuals between the console and the PC is narrowing….

Those of you either related to Ebeneezer Scrooge or that have relatives that you like slightly more than other relatives that are deserving of only a pair of wooly socks should take a look at a short list of honorable mentions that won't set you back all that much.

Everglide Mouse Pad: $15 might seem like a lot for a mouse pad (especially when you can get one with and Eric Cartman cartoon for half the price) but we've found this pad to not only be the most 'precise' gaming mouse surface but made out of plastic, it's also the most durable. You'll never need another mouse pad again.

Gravis Xterminator: whilst we don't normally use joysticks/joypads, there are times when they can get you out of a spot of bother (think EA Sports games). The Xterminators D-pad is not only comfy but seems that bit more responsive than any of its competitors (such as the one from Microsoft). With six buttons, two triggers and even two spring-loaded side buttons, former Gravis joypad owners will feel right at home. The little stick, top-hat switch and throttle slider make the joypad slightly more useful and durable for other games. And all of that for $30 makes for a great stocking-stuffer.
