First impressions are always important. When we unpacked the subwoofer enclosure, it was apparent that MidiLand wanted to make a good impression with the 7100M sub - the build quality is top-notch. Constructed of medium density fiberboard, the enclosure resembles those included with entry-level to mid-range home theater systems and is quite durable.
Aesthetically, the 7100M subwoofer is quite a sight. The metallic color coupled with a green LED that glows when the system has power make for an impressive looking system. Beauty is only skin deep, though. What really matters is the sub's performance.
MidiLand has included a wired module for easy manipulation of the 7100's settings. A 10-foot cable is included for easy placement of the module on a tabletop; or, if the speaker system will be used in close proximity of a PC, there is an internal connector so that the control module can mount in an empty 5.25" bay.
The CM-7 (control module) houses dials for volume, balance, fade, bass, and treble. The bass knob can either increase or decrease subwoofer output by 12dB at 100Hz, while the treble control can increase or decrease the output of the satellites 12dB at 10kHz.
