  • Processor performance can be divided into floating point and integer unit speeds. Ziff Davis' CPUmark and FPU WinMark separate these two aspects of processing to compare the different architectures.

    As we've seen in the past, the performance increase of each new CPU is fairly linear. Expectedly, we see the 1GHz Athlon as the frontrunner, boasting the most powerful performance according to CPUMark.

    Again we see a linear pattern, with the 1GHz Athlon in the lead by a significant margin over any other processor. Already known for its impressive floating-point unit, AMD's Athlon at 1GHz applies afterburner-like performance in FPUMark.
