If it's true that time flies when you're having fun, then semiconductor giant Intel must be having lots of it lately thanks to new Intel CPU introductions averaging 1.5 a month thus far in 1999.

In an effort to turn back the tide of strong Intel-rival AMD's resurgence into the low end of the PC spectrum in late 1998, Intel has set upon a break-neck pace of product launches that threatens to overwhelm their competitors into a quick oblivion if Intel's aggressive pricing and performance can't be surpassed.

As Sharky Extreme reported last week, the first victim of Intel's strong sales and marketplace dominance was semiconductor designer Cyrix, having now been spurned and sold by their larger National Semiconductor parent due to the inability of Cyrix to compete with Intel's strong position. Cyrix never threatened Intel's supremacy in either the desktop or business PC semiconductor market, and their recent spin off from National Semi came as no surprise to those in the industry.

With no other competitors save for AMD within a generation of their current products, the Intel juggernaught seems unstoppable. Today's review focuses on their latest artillery salvo, this one coming in the form of yet another Celeron CPU. Clocked at 466MHz (7.0 x 66MHz) the newest and most powerful member of the Celeron family seems destined for success.

Read on to see if this new member of Intel's vast flock should warrant your attention and/or purchase.
