WinBook is one of the lesser known but longer running designers and builders of notebook computers. They have made a name for themselves with fully featured notebooks that provide plenty of bang for the buck. We decided to take a look at their WinBook Si, their 800MHz powerhouse notebook, which runs for a mere $2275 as tested. Here are the specifications of our test system:

    • Pentium III 800MHz (non-SpeedStep, a desktop CPU)
    • 440BX chipset motherboard
    • 128MB PC100 SDRAM (64MB SO DIMM x 2)
    • 14.1" 1024x768 XGA LCD
    • ATI 3D Mobility M w/4MB SGRAM
    • 6GB 4200rpm hard drive
    • Integrated 6x DVD
    • Integrated floppy drive
    • Integrated 56k modem
    • Claimed 7.25lbs with battery

From the spec list, you can see that the WinBook Si covers all the bases and then some, while keeping the price down. Way down.
