The RumbleFX uses a digital signal processor, which enables the headphones to recognize low frequency signals. The signals are then converted into vibrations by transducers (placed in both earpieces). The force feedback uses the audio in the game and works according to the depth of bass in the game itself. Because the force feedback comes solely from the headset, you don't need to have individual game developers add support for the headset.
When using the RumbleFX in PC games, I found it a little overbearing to play with the game music and audio turned on, as the RumbleFX doesn't differentiate between the two. You'll definitely want to turn the game music off if it has a lot of bass. The RumbleFX headset can be used with a wide variety of gaming devices (PC, Mac, consoles) and with personal audio devices (MP3 Players, Discman, Stereo) as well.
