  • The RumbleFX uses a digital signal processor, which enables the headphones to recognize low frequency signals. The signals are then converted into vibrations by transducers (placed in both earpieces). The force feedback uses the audio in the game and works according to the depth of bass in the game itself. Because the force feedback comes solely from the headset, you don't need to have individual game developers add support for the headset.

When using the RumbleFX in PC games, I found it a little overbearing to play with the game music and audio turned on, as the RumbleFX doesn't differentiate between the two. You'll definitely want to turn the game music off if it has a lot of bass. The RumbleFX headset can be used with a wide variety of gaming devices (PC, Mac, consoles) and with personal audio devices (MP3 Players, Discman, Stereo) as well.

    • Driver Unit - 1.57" diam. Dome
    • Diameter - 2.24" diam actuator
    • Impedance - 32 Ohm
    • Sensitivity - 102dB S.P.L. at 1Khz
    • Max Power Handling - 500mW
    • Frequency Response - 5-28,000Hz
    • Power Requirements - 3V
    • Cord - Approx. 13'
    • Mini Stereo Plug
    • Battery Life - Approx. 30 hours

The RumbleFX is compatible with PC games, MAC games, Palm games, Nintendo 64, Super Nintendo, GameBoy, Dreamcast, Saturn, genesis, Gamegear, Playstation, and the Playstation 2. Absolutely no software or drivers are required. The RumbleFX also carries a 90 day limited Warranty.

The actual installation of the RumbleFX is very simple. All you will need to do is plug the headset into the earphone jack, put the batteries into the base control unit, and ta-da! You're ready to go.

At first glance the RumbleFX headphones look very nice. They are a high quality headset wrapped in soft cushion foam, and are much lighter than one would expect (this is a good thing since you really wouldn't want a heavy headset vibrating on your head). The earpieces can swivel top-to-bottom while the right to left movement is very limited and independent of the top-to-bottom swivel. The RumbleFX also has the standard adjustable band to fit different sized heads. The supplied extension cord is about 13" long, giving you more than enough rope to move around and not have the headset unplug.
