The party is kicked off thanks to a couple rounds of Quake III testing. Normal and MAX quality settings are what we're serving up, in order to test best and worst case scenarios (and also to get equal representation from both 16 and 32-bit color). Tests have been conducted in Windows 98 and 2000.
Desktop color depth is 16-bit to allow Normal Quality to run Default at 16-bit; V-sync is turned off on all tests, and scores reflect performance with sound on.
The RADEON is beat fairly substantially under the Normal Quality benchmarks. Unfortunately, the 16-bit quality of the RADEON has not improved much since we originally looked at it, and with the release of Detonator 3 for the GeForce2, 16-bit doesn't shape up well for this card at all.
