The GeForce2 GTS utilizes a .18 micron chip capable of pumping out 25 million triangles along with a quad-pipeline architecture that delivers 1.6 GigaTexels/sec and 800 MegaPixels/sec of fillrate. The default speeds for GeForce2 GTS boards are 200 MHz core and 333 MHz for the 32 or 64 MB of DDR memory.
In the feature department, the GeForce2 GTS includes dual-textures per pipeline, a High-Definition Video Processor (HDVP) for enhanced video playback, along with NVIDIA's second-generation T&L engine, and Shading Rasterizer. It also supports the current 3D feature set of AGP 4X, 32-bit rendering, texture compression and FSAA. The GeForce2 GTS chip also consumes 10W of power, which is much higher than the 4W of the GeForce2 MX, but still lower than the power-hungry GeForce 256 chips.
Of course, this simply refers to the basic design, and NVIDIA has been enhancing the GeForce2 GTS design since. The GeForce2 Pro cards feature a 200 MHz GeForce2 GTS chip, but memory speed has been boosted 20% to 400 MHz DDR. The GeForce 2 GTS Ultra is again a higher clocked variant, running at 250 MHz clock and 460 MHz DDR memory. These newer models tend to cost quite a bit more than the standard GeForce2 GTS cards, though their enhanced memory bandwidth start to pay dividends at the higher resolutions.
