Similar to the other TNT2 Ultra cards Sharky Extreme has looked at the ViperV770 Ultra fits the rough mold set forth by the capable TNT2 chip itself.

One notable omission we immediately spotted (notable for Diamond anyway) is the ViperV770's lack of a TV-Out capability.

This is surprising given that DVD-ROM drives are selling for so little now that many users are actually buying them for the purpose of dumping a movie image to a normal television via their video card's S-Video or RCA out port. The ViperV770 supports the same level and quality of DVD playback that the other TNT2 Ultra cards do, but it will not allow you to watch the movie on anything else other than your PC's monitor.

Overall the new Viper's featureset is strong yet not exceptional compared to other TNT2 cards that are currently hitting the market.

Also similar to the other TNT2 cards we've seen is the Viper's adeptness at handling gorgeous 3D graphics and images. The TNT2 is a very strong performer in the realms of visual acuity and precision, the images it presents in Quake3 Test are among the best we've seen to date, including the impressive Matrox G400 MAX.

Verdict: Strong muscles with an appreciation for the arts, the ViperV770 fulfills the two most important desires of gamers worldwide.
