Sharky Extreme :

SmartResolution is a feature that allows you to fine tune the vertical resolution of your onscreen image by steps of one pixel and the horizontal resolution by steps of 32 pixels. This way, you can maximize your desktop space and fit on screen as much as is possible with your monitor. While we're perfectly happy at resolutions like 1024x768 and 1152x864 on a 19" monitor, many people aren't even happy with 1600x1200. If you're one of those who demands as much on screen information as possible, the Erazor X and its SmartResolution technology will make you quite happy.

At the heart of the Erazor X is an NVIDIA GeForce 256 clocked at 120MHz. The most talked about feature of the GeForce is, as you most likely know, its hardware transformation and lighting (T&L) engine. This engine offloads many geometry and lighting calculations from the CPU, freeing it up for AI and game play calculations. It can also process T&L functions significantly quicker than today's CPUs, so game scenes that support hardware T&L can have more complex geometry without a severe performance drop that would otherwise occur. This also frees up the CPU for more AI related calculations, for example. There is a weakness though, not all games support hardware T&L, and of those that do (most OpenGL and DX7 games), not all make good use of it. If you're using a game that does not support hardware T&L with an Erazor X or any other GeForce, while things will be fast, they will not be as fast as they would be with hardware T&L support. If you would like a more in-depth look at NVIDIA's GeForce technology as well as hardware T&L, please read our GeForce Guide here. We also have a list of games that support hardware T&L here.
