Overall, the 3D Prophet II GTS Pro scores higher than the GeForce2 GTS 64MB by about as much as it scores lower than the Ultra cards. This gives you a nice additional choice in the middle if you want as much as you can get but can't get a $500+ card. When the scene being drawn is memory limited, the 3D Prophet II GTS Pro blows past the GeForce2 GTS, but when the scene is more GPU limited, the 3D Prophet II GTS Pro hangs back. This really demonstrates that fill rate and texel rate are only part of the performance equation.
We managed to push the card up to a very impressive 220MHz core clock and 445MHz memory clock. This yielded a whopping 12% speed increase in Quake III Arena normal at 1600x1200, which is the largest overclocking performance gain we have seen in a while. That puts the 3D Prophet II GTS Pro, when overclocked, near GeForce2 Ultra speeds. Of course, not all cards overclock the same, and you may have worse luck than we did. Still, we were very impressed with the card's potential for overclocking.
