During our test period, we managed to stabilize the Dynamite TNT2 Ultra at a core speed of 190MHz (15MHz over stock, and 40MHz faster than the Diamond Viper770's default speed) while boosting the SDRAM clock speed up to 236MHz.

At that speed the card was stable, and ran through limitless Quake2 crusher.dm2 cycles in a closed ATX case.

We also managed to get through benchmarks of the Hercules Dynamite TNT2 Ultra at a top speed of 195MHz core speed/240MHz SDRAM speed. This configuration was stable for the most part, but we found that it would experience random lockups after running within a closed case for periods longer than one hour.

Speed, speed, speed. Damn we love speed.

Sharky Extreme was the first publication to overclock a 3dfx-provided Voodoo3 card to a maximum core speed of 220MHz last month. This month we were able to take a TNT2 Ultra-based product from Hercules to 190MHz and beyond. Isn't it a great time to be in the market for a video accelerator? It's a hell of a lot better than it was just 60 - 90 days ago, that's for sure….

Be warned however that any .25micron semiconductor like the TNT2 is subject to very different performance levels within a given yield. Some Dynamite TNT2 cards might be able to exceed our measured results. Others might not be able to beat 180MHz. There are no guarantees when overclocking any PC peripheral, so don't cry to yer Mama if you get a bad one. (Hi Mom)

Cards like the Dynamite TNT2 Ultra are the reason why everyone should have credit cards. Simply go down to the local CompUSA, charge four of these bad boys, take em home and then find the best one of the batch. Return the other three and enjoy gaming nirvana.

If you don't approve of these extreme methods, the Dynamite's stock 175/200MHz speed is enough power for even the most cynical hardcore gamers among us.

Read on friend, we haven't even begun to dissect this amazing new video card in detail yet.
