Leadtek is a Taiwanese company that has consistently delivered low-cost video card solutions with good performance, which together add up to an excellent value. We took a look at their new NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS-based card, the accurately named WinFast GeForce2 GTS, and put it through our testing regime to see how it stacks up. Read on to find out whether or not it's the GeForce2 GTS for you.

The WinFast GeForce2 GTS is pretty much identical to the NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS reference design, just like all other GeForce2 GTS cards out there. It sports the standard 200MHz core clock and 166MHz (333 with DDR) SGRAM. We have heard that NVIDIA is pressuring card builders not to deviate at all from the reference design. With so little design differences between cards, designers often resort to odd heat sink designs to set their card apart and the WinFast GeForce2 GTS is no exception. It carries a relatively large heat sink, measuring 3"x2 3/8", mated to a standard size 1.5" fan. This should aid somewhat in cooling by increasing the heat sink's surface area for heat dissipation, but a larger fan or a heat sink on the bottom of the card would aid cooling even more, and therefore hopefully help in overclocking.

The WinFast GeForce2 GTS comes with a TV-out, which sets it a little bit apart from some of the competition, though TV-out is not on our top-ten list of wanted card features. And of course, since the card is based on NVIDIA's reference design, it also has all the features of the reference design, just like every other GeForce2 GTS out there. OK, yes, we admit it, we're running out of things to say about the GeForce2 GTS in general, so here is a recap of the major features.
