  • We have a couple of recommendations for setup that we learned while installing the card. First of all, you need to have Microsoft's Web TV software installed, which comes with Windows 98. Not a problem. Second, there are no Windows 2000 drivers. Only Windows 95, 98, 98 SE, and ME will work. Third, when you set your audio source for the FM tuner, it may not work on the "proper" setting. We had ours hooked through the CD-in on our SoundBlaster but had to set the FM software to use the line-in input, otherwise the audio would not work.

All in all, the VoodooTV 200 is a decent product that still has some software teething problems. At $99, it is price competitive with other TV tuners with similar features. We will be more interested when the card has Windows 2000 support and comes bundled with time shifting software. For now, the VoodooTV 200 is a good quality capture card with some shortcomings. For now, we prefer the much more expensive but better quality Matrox G450TV and ATI All-in-Wonder RADEON tv/video card solutions.

    • Good capture quality
    • Competitive price

    • Not Windows 2000 compatible
    • Pretty but poor software user interfaces
    • Software bugs that lose audio and video
