  • As we said earlier, the battle between any two GeForce 3 products is a battle of extras and features. Leadtek has attempted to differentiate their WinFast GeForce 3 TD by including several software titles including WinDVD, 3Deep, Colorific and True Internet Color. Most users with a DVD player in their PC will likely already have a software DVD player installed, but this version of WinDVD will suffice for those who are new to PC-DVD. Some may argue that PowerDVD is a better player, but the debate over which player is best still remains. E-Color's trifecta of color utilities will probably go unused by most SharkyExtreme readers. These utilities are intended to help you match your gamma and color temperature pallets perfectly from your monitor to your printer, but usually end up becoming a chore to configure and not worth the hassle.

Leadtek's proprietary driver interface will probably be of more use than the bundled E-color utilities. The WinFox suite of drivers and tools seeks to incorporate the functions that most hardcore users desire the most into an easy-to-use interface with moderate success. WinFox not only adds a few extra tabs to your Display Properties, it also leaves a small icon in your System Tray. From the Icon, you can access all of Leadtek's proprietary tools as well as the standard display properties control panel. Of those tools, we find Speed Runner, an overclocking tool, that lets you adjust the core and memory clocks of the WinFast GeForce 3 Td. One major advantage overNVIDIA's standard "coolbits" overclocking trick, Speed Runner does not require a reboot when enabled. Hardware Monitor is another nifty included tool, that will be of great use to the heat-minded. This utility allows the user to monitor core and edge temperatures of the chip, chip and adaptor voltage as well as set alarms for when it (gasp) overheats.

Leadtek has also includes what you need to help you make the most of their TV-Out component right out of the box. The board itself uses a standard S-Video connector and comes with the matching S-Video cable. For those with older TVs, the WinFast GeForce 3 TD also comes with an S-Video to RCA converter and a matching RCA cable. By including these three cables, you can hook this card up to nearly any tv - not to mention other video source. Considering that these cables would cost 15-20$ by themselves, they are another plus for Leadtek.
