Sharky Extreme :

Other than new CPUs, the most exciting news in the laptop market is ATI's new ATI Rage Mobility 128. It performs almost as well as the desktop Rage 128, which puts its performance level around that of the original NVIDIA TNT. It also supports industry leading DVD playback. It does all this while consuming only 2.1W when running 3D applications and .85W with a static screen (8MB frame buffer). Currently, the Rage 128 Mobility is only available in Apple's new PowerBook G3. It should be available in PC systems within the next few months.

NVIDIA has a mobile solution in the works. While we don't have performance details that we can give you, we have heard that it will use over 3W. If that is the case, NVIDIA will have a tough time competing against the much lower-power Rage Mobility 128.
