After ripping the box apart, the first thing we noticed about the Dreamcast was its small size. Its dimensions are 7.25" x 2.25" x 7.25", tiny for a console. The Dreamcast is the same size as the early portable yet clunky Sony Discman units. Quite an amazing feat considering what's in the heart of the system. Here's a list of the system's specifications:

CPU
Hitachi SH-4. Runs at 200MHz w/ 100MHz bus

Graphics Chipset
VideoLogic PowerVR2DC
8MB VRAM

Sound Processor
Yamaha Super Intelligent Sound Processor. Capable of 64 audio streams
2MB DRAM

Operating System
DirectX capable Microsoft Windows CE

Memory
16MB SDRAM

CDROM Drive
12x with 1.2GB disc capacity

Modem
Detachable 33.6kbps. A 56kbps variant is rumored to be offered at a later date

Weight
4.5 pounds

Four ports are available on the back of the Dreamcast unit. From left to right they are the phone line-out, A/V out, serial out and A/C in. The serial out will most likely be utilized by Sega's RGB cable, which will allow users to hook up the Dreamcast to their VGA monitors for a much clearer picture.
