    MSI G4Ti4600-VTD (GeForce4 Ti 4600) Review
    By Vince Freeman :  June 20, 2002

    Value

When you check out the prices for the MSI G4Ti4600-VTD, it is as expected, one of the lower-cost GeForce4 Ti 4600 cards you can find ($305-$315 for retail box). MSI has always been able to provide quality hardware at an extremely competitive price, and the G4Ti4600-VTD is certainly no different. About now you might start doing a double-take, perhaps recognizing that the cards in the MSI price range do not feature DVI-in/out, do not come with three bundled games and certainly do not feature a full A/V editing studio.

Not only does the G4Ti4600-VTD represent an excellent value compared to other fully-featured products, but it also manages to undercut the price of several of the basic GeForce4 Ti 4600 cards. From our perspective, we'd be hard pressed to find a better GeForce4 Ti 4600 value than the G4Ti4600-VTD, and in addition to getting a powerful and highly overclockable 3D card, all of the VIVO multimedia and game extras are seemingly thrown in for free.

    * Please note that online price trends are taken at the time of review and are not intended to reflect long-term patterns.

    Conclusion

MSI has really impressed us with their G4Ti4600-VTD, and along with having the highest features-to-price ratio we could find, it is one of the best GeForce4 Ti 4600 cards we've laid our hands on. Make a list of required components of any high-end 3D card purchase and it would probably include performance, price, features, overclocking and software. MSI hits all of these right on target, and the G4Ti4600-VTD has one of the most impressive combinations of price, performance and features we've seen.

    Pros:

    • Excellent Performance and Overclocking
    • Incredible Value
    • Has Everything but the Kitchen Sink

    Cons:

    • Heatsink-Fan Could be Higher Quality
    • Potential Installation Issues
